Last Sunday, at the Doubletree Hotel in Miami, a new Miss Miami Tropic was crowned. From a pool of 6 candidates, 23 year old Denise Pascual of Kendall, was deemed the winner. With this win, Denise has secured a spot in the Miss Florida USA pageant. Last year’s winner of this pageant, Lisette Garcia, actually won the Miss Florida title and will compete in the Miss USA pageant.
During the pageant, Miss Miami Tropic Teen and Jr Teen were also crowned. In addition, each contestant is paired with a “Little Sister” who participated in the regional pageants and also makes personal appearances with her “Big Sister.” The little sisters modeled swimwear during the competition and one sang a wonderful rendition of “Over the Rainbow.” There was also performances by singers Arias and Messieli.
Just before the crownings, there was a fashion show of Kirsten Regalado Gowns and the tallying of the People’s Choice Awards. The panel of judges included WSVN anchor, Richard Lemus. Fun was had by all!
