Natalie McNeal is very special to me. First off, she’s a trusted friend. She’s also my neighbor. Sometimes, when I’m doing freelance writing, she’s even my boss. She is a very FAB chick. And she has a very cool story. Check it out..
Three years ago, she was a regular ole working chick. She was shopping, traveling, partying, etc. Then the lightbulb came on. She realized that she was in debt–$20k worth. She also realized that she only had a meager amount of savings. In that sobering moment, Nat decided to take control of her finances. In February of 2008, she launched The Frugalista Files, a blog on the Miami Herald’s website. It was supposed to be a chronicle of her self-imposed NO BUY MONTH. What happened next is fascinating.
Once Natalie started paying attention to her finances, and seeing that she could still live FAB, while pinching pennies–what started out as a 30 day exercise, became a lifestyle. Natalie is the QUEEN of frugality. She’s my “Go To Girl” for pointers on where to get the finest items at discount prices. And she’s turned the story of her first year in her new life into a new book, called THE FRUGALISTA FILES: How One Woman Got Out of Debt Without Giving Up the Fabulous Life. In it, she shares her inspiring message and a trove of frugalista tips.
And, in case you were wondering, the proof is DEF in the pudding, as Natalie became totally debt free in just 2 years and 4 months.
It’s a new year and now is the perfect time to change your spending habits. Do yourself a favor and buy the book.
