Anthony Williams, fan favorite of the Bravo Channel’s Project Runway’s show (Season 7), appeared last weekend in Pembroke Pines. He travels the country these days as a Fashion Director for Macy’s and hosted a Fashion Challenge in the Pembroke Lakes Mall store. There was a runway show and then he actually picked audience members to compete against each other to create the most fashionable looks using the latest in Spring trends.
I got to spend a few minutes with Anthony before he took the stage and I have to say that he was absolutely DELIGHTFUL!! Here’s some of our chat–
What designers have inspired you throughout your career?
I love Oscar (de la Renta). I love Valentino. Long before them, it was Bob Mackie. I really like Carolina Herrera a lot.
Do you have any recommendations for plus-sized women, to update their look?
One thing that I recommend for full figured women is a surplice top. It creates opportunity for you to put on a push up bra. And let’s face it–The bigger the boobs (look), the flatter the tummy (looks). It’s about illusion. It’s not what you see, it’s what you DON’T see. Oprah wears surplice a lot.
How do you describe your style?
I like things that are polished. I like clean lines, but I love a little drama. I like color and boldness. And I like REAL women.
I can not wait to run into Anthony again. His runway show was flawless and his comedic antics were hilarious. If he wasn’t a talented fashion designer, he could most certainly go into standup. LOVED HIM!!
