Imagine this–a restaurant that sits right on the runway of an airport. I don’t mean overlooking the airport. I mean RIGHT ON the runway, mere feet from planes moving about. Now imagine that this restaurant had amazing food–things like Brioche Almond French Toast for breakfast and Honey Lime Chicken for lunch. If you close your eyes, while holding that thought–the place that you imagine would be Jet Runway Cafe. I absolutely LOVE this place!
Owners Mike Linder and Mitch Amsterdam opened Jet Runway at Executive Airport in Fort Lauderdale about 3 years ago. They initially opened after finding that there was “nowhere good to eat lunch or bring our clients to lunch” when they arrived in town. Although Chef Sean Anderson is in charge of the kitchen, Mike and Mitch actually come up with menu items.
And most importantly, for me, is the fact that Jet Runway is SO active in the community. They regularly throw hangar parties for local charities, like a recent one for American Heart Association of Broward County’s Pulse Committee.
For those of you not in South Florida, stay tuned…a Jet Runway Cafe could be coming to an airport near you…
