The one question that weighs heavy with kids on Christmas Eve is–Where is Santa Claus? Well, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) has been tracking Santa on this most important night for more than 50 years.
They use 4 high tech systems to pinpoint Santa’s exact whereabouts: radar, satellites, Santa cams, and fighter jets. Radar informs NORAD of exactly when Santa leaves the North Pole. Once he takes off, Rudolph’s bright red nose is picked up via satellite. Finally, Santa cams and fighter pilots actually eyeball Santa and his sleigh and relay the locations.
Once all of the data is collected, OnStar subscribers can retrieve the information while they are traveling to visit family and friends. For the third year, OnStar Advisors will provide location-based updates starting at 7am EST Christmas Eve and going straight through 5am EST Christmas morning. All you have to do is press the blue button and ask for a “Santa Update.”
