Earlier this week, Research in Motion hosted the first ever Blackberry Fan Night in Miami. There had been a huge Twitter contest to win tickets to the event and fans from all over the country (and Canada) were on hand. Twitter contest winners walked away with brand new Blackberry Playbook tablets.
After a bit of a venue glitch, the party got cranking at the FAB Mondrian Hotel on South Beach where RIM took over the lobby bar. There were demos of the new Playbook 2.0 software (which I absolutely LOVE) and other devices. The open bar and endless stream of light bites kept the crowd going. And, local celebrity chef and Food Network star, Ingrid Hoffman, hung out ALL night. She is HOOT!
I brought both my Blackberry Torch and my Playbook to the event. I had a couple of minor technical issues that I was hoping someone could help me with. Well, 30 seconds into arriving, I met my new BESTIE, and RIM Developer Evangelist Patrick Mollins, who HOOKED ME UP! He is the man to know! He has no clue what a bad idea it was to give me his email and phone number. But, he’ll figure it out..
I had a great time and hope that RIM continues to recognize their South Florida fan base!
Disclosure: I was an invited guest to this event. I had a great time and left with some great swag. All opinions are my own.
