I have HORRIBLE eating habits. I skip meals often. I eat when I’m not hungry. I eat too fast. I LOVE sugary drinks. And, on top of all else, I have a medical condition that requires that I eat an abundance of things that would have made Dr Atkins cringe. So, when the FAB folks at DeliverLean contacted me about trying their healthy meal delivery service, I was delighted. They are a Boca-based company that came into existence last year. They have a delivery area from Jupiter to South Beach.
Founder Scott Harris hired 3 amazing chefs to make meals that were healthy, yet tasted great. He packaged it as a white glove service that delivered fresh (never fozen) food directly to your door. So here’s how it worked for me. I answered a few questions about food allergies and likes/dislikes and they actually emailed me the week’s menu. Then, 3 times a week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday) a bright green refrigerator bag showed up on my doorstep with the meals.
Let’s talk about the FOOD. The Traditional Plan consists of 4-5 meals per day. Each meal contains 4 ounces of lean protein sources (such as fish, chicken, pork, beef and turkey), 2-4 ounces of complex carbs (such as power grains like quinoa, beans or lentils) and 3 ounces of fresh fruits or vegetables. All meals are approx. 400 calories per serving and prepared “clean” – with limited dairy, sugar and salt. A typical day of meals consists of breakfast, one wrap and three plated meals per day. Here’s some of the fare:
- Breakfast: Strawberry & Banana Pancakes with Cinnamon Vanilla Yogurt
- Wrap: Asian Chicken Salad Wrap with Sirachi Slaw
- Plated Meal: Citrus Soy Mahi with Brown Rice and Sugar Snap Peas
- Meal: Sweet Potato Hummus & Cinnamon Pita with BBQ Chicken Strips
- Plated Meal: Herb Brushed Mahi with Lemon Barley & Steamed Asparagus
Now, you’re wondering about price. Well, you can actually get 3 meals a day for less than $21 per day. That’s not bad at all, huh? And, it is tasty! Pair it with regular exercise and you’re on your way to a new you!
Disclosure: I received DeliverLean free of charge to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
