A few weeks ago, I spent a wonderful weekend at the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, as part of a media tour. What an amazing experience! We got golf lessons, spa treatments, a walking tour of historical Palm Beach, and more.
But one of the highlights of the weekend for me, was meeting Executive Chef Gordon Maybury. I absolutely LOVED him, so much so that I actually asked him to marry me! ANY man that cooks like him DESERVES to be married to me–right?!? He’s a relatively new arrival at the PGA, but he’s also done stints at the Loews Miami Beach, the Hyatt Regency Grand Cayman, and the Grand Hyatt in New York City.
Soon after arriving and having a delish lunch in one of their luxurious suites, we were treated to a private cooking lesson with Chef Gordon. To our surprise, he taught us to make some of the recipes that we had just had for lunch. This was absolutely the FIRST time that I’ve watched a pro chef make things and thought, “WOW, I could do this at home!” He didn’t use special ingredients or even special kitchen tools. It was quite a jaw dropping experience.
My friend, Zip Zip of Champagne Living, shared his amazing rendition of Gazpacho here. And, here’s a video of his lesson in the art of the mojito, shot by my bestie, Dalia Colon of VisitFlorida! Of course, when he talks about “one person not drinking rum,” that would be me. Enjoy!
