Over the weekend, one of my besties, Hugh Sinclair (aka @ChefIrie), hosted a cooking demo at Bloomingdale’s in Aventura Mall. Hugh, whose catering business is called Irie Spice, worked it! Right before my eyes, he whipped up Curried Grits w/Andouille, Coconut Chicken, and Wilted Mustard Greens made with a Rum Reduction. WOWZERS! I wish that I could even express how awesomely YUMMO that this meal was. And the whole time he was cooking it, he was cracking jokes, as usual. He also took questions from the captivated audience.
This was the first time that I’ve experienced the demos at Bloomies, and I’ll definitely go back. While the Culinary Specialist, Lauretta Russomanno, does daily demos on the 3rd floor, she also brings in guest chefs nearly every Saturday.
