ChevyUnivTour got on the road at about 6am on Wednesday, with a stop at Dunkin Donuts in Davie, Florida. Everybody got a treat and we headed over to the Florida turnpike from there. I was excited and anxious. The OnStar navigation system notified us that we had a bit more than 700 miles to get there and I hit the gas. We stopped in Georgia for lunch and couple times for gas and breaks, but other than that–it was pure driving! The Tahoe is GRAND! It seats 7 and since we were only 4, we got to spread out. It had all the bells and whistles, including DVD player, OnStar, XM radio, heated seats (which I found by accident, and then couldn’t figure how to shut it off!), sunroof and more. My Dad really loved it. He says that I should buy one. I was thinking the same thing!
We did hit the detour from hell when we were nearly at Clemson. It took me about 45 mins to get back on track. Thank God for OnStar! We finally arrived at Clemson after dark and it was impressive. One of the first things that I noticed was a lot of students walking and jogging, some alone. They obviously feel secure. We found our way to the James L Martin Inn & Conference Center and dropped our stuff. Then it was time to explore. We went down Main Street and got to Tiger Boulevard where there were so many places to eat that we could hardly choose. The family decided on Ruby Tuesday and it was nice. I must admit though, I was so tired, that I only had an appetizer. Afterwards, we stopped at the local Rite Aid, where I met the nicest cashier ever. She even gave us the Clemson student discount, although my daughter isn’t a student.
The room at the Inn was impressive and it slept soo good. Watch out for Day 2. And follow the action LIVE on Twitter.
