D-Wade Raises Funds for LA Schools

Congrats to my main apple scrapple, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, on the success of his annual NBA All-Star Weekend charity event. Yesterday,  Wade’s World Foundation raised $250,000 for MLA Partner Schools in Los Angeles. The event, held at the very FAB Montage Beverly Hills, was attended by many of Dwyane’s celebrity friends, including singers John Legend and Jordin Sparks, talk show host Sherri Shepherd, and NFL greats Justin Tuck and Michael Strahan.

This was actually D-Wade’s second partnership with MLA in as many days–when he learned that the boys gym at Manual Arts High School in LA was being remodeled, but the girls gym wasnt, he also donated the money to re-polish the floor, get new scoreboards, and new basketball backboards. He hopes that this will “level the playing field.” The new gym was unveiled on Thursday, in a special ceremony for 100 of the school’s female athletes. That program also included LA Sparks superstar and home grown talent, Tina Thompson.

Dwyane reached out to these Los Angeles schools, as a way to say thank you to the city for hosting the 60th Annual NBA All-Star game.

Get it, Dwyane!  Good Job!
