Unless you live under a rock, you know that yesterday was Force Friday. Star Wars geeks around the globe spent all night (and day) scouting out, hunting down, and paying for all kinds of memorabilia surrounding the upcoming December release of the film. I get it. But Star Wars isn’t the ONLY great film that Disney/Pixar/Marvel has coming down the pike. A the recent D23 Expo in Anaheim, they revealed quite a few movies that REALLY got me excited. Here are some of my favorites:
Toy Story 4
Did you realize that it’s been 20 years since Pixar introduced these beloved characters into our lives? Wow. Don’t I feel old! Toy Story 4 is a love story that focuses on a romance between Sheriff Woody and Bo Peep. It is slated for release on June 16, 2017. I have the date circled on my calendar.
Queen of Katwe
Lupita!!!! Yes, Lupita Nyong’o stars in this live action film, based on the true story of Phiona Mutesi. Phiona grew up in poverty stricken, rural Uganda and grew up to be a Chess Master. The movie also stars David Oleyowo. Disney refuses to tell me exactly when this will be released, but I will be front and center when it does.
This film introduces a spirited teenager who sails out on a daring mission to fulfill her ancestors’ unfinished quest. She meets the once-mighty demi-god Maui (voice of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson), and together, they traverse the open ocean on an action-packed voyage. The flick sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.
I can’t wait to witness the forgetful blue tang’s reunion with her friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers about her past. What can she remember? Who are her parents? And where did she learn to speak Whale? The film swims into theaters on June 17, 2016.
I was right in the thick of it when Marvel introduced Ant-Man and I plan to be right there when this guy appears on the Avengers‘ scene! This flick is scheduled to debut on October 26, 2016. So, among all the others, these are the films that I’m most anticipating. What about you?
