About a month ago, one of my besties let me in on a little secret. Actually, she let me in on 2 things–one was a secret and one wasn’t. She was organizing 2 events at IKEA in Sunrise, Florida. One was a scavenger hunt and one was a flash mob. I immediately signed up for both.
As you already know, Jewel’s FAB Team, totally ROCKED the scavenger hunt and walked away with the $5000 prize. Well, the flash mob went down on Saturday. Of course, I waited until 6am Saturday morning to start learning the steps. It was DEFINITELY not as easy as it looked.
I spent most of the day on the lanai at the Hyatt Regency Pier 66, with my netbook, dancing along to the choreography videos. My Dad just could not visualize what a flash mob was–but he kept encouraging me with the practices. Then it was time to leave for IKEA. I dragged some family members along for support. I also picked up Chloe Duke, daughter of the FAB Victoria Duke. The line was sooo long to get into the parking area that I actually got worried that I wouldn’t make it in time.
We finally got inside and were ushered into the loading dock area for final practices. There were a lot of IKEA employees participating. The dance would take place in the warehouse, just where it opens up into the checkout area. Our cue was a Rhianna song. When Rhianna came on, we knew that our song was next. We pretended to be customers and the dancing IKEA employees pretended to help us with shopping.
Rhianna came on. THIS WAS IT! I was in the second group. Even though I couldn’t see the first group when our song came on, I could hear folks cheering, so I knew that they had started. I scooted out and joined in. IT WAS FUN!!!!!
Check out the video–I’m the one in the orange Clemson shirt. AND, my Dad even makes a cameo. Check him out at the 2:03 marker!
