Nissan recently invited me to drive their new convertible Murano, called the Murano Cross Cabriolet. The Media Preview event took place last Friday at the FAB Omphoy Ocean Resort in Palm Beach. I got there first thing in the morning and met some of the other participants during breakfast. It was quite a cool group and included some bloggers that I follow on twitter, but had never met.
After breakfast, we got a lesson in all things Murano Cross Cabriolet and I must admit, I was impressed. I had rented a Murano a few years back for a road trip and wasn’t overly thrilled. But this new vehicle is THE BUSINESS! Check out some facts–
- It’s the world’s first All Wheel Drive crossover convertible
- The convertible top has glass windows, including a skylight over the back seats
- Nearly EVERYTHING is standard, including heated front seats and a heated steering wheel and a Bose audio system
- It’s target demographic is couples (skews female), 40-45 years old with household income of $125+
- It’s priced at $46k completely equipped
Finally, we got outside to check out the cars—NICE! The rear seats aren’t just for decoration, ADULTS can really sit back there! And a HUGE trunk too–big enough for a run to BJ’s Wholesale Club! I especially liked the color called Caribbean(shown above). It was an ocean green/blue. LOVE! Then we paired up and took the car out for an hour and a half, driving all over Palm Beach County. Lucky for me, I was paired with my new sister, Zippy of Champagne Living. We had a ball with the top down! We even ventured off the charted course for a bit–don’t tell Nissan though! HA! I honestly could see this car in my life. And, what a headturner! Folks were asking, “umm..excuse me…what kind of car IS that?” After all, the car is not available for sale yet, so very few folks have yet to see it on the streets. I am extremely honored to have been among the first to drive it.
And, because the folks at Nissan know me sooo well, there was a great lunch to follow the drive program. We were treated to lunch at the VERY FAB Michelle Bernstein’s restuarant in the Omphoy, overlooking the ocean. Not only that, Michelle herself gave us a cooking demonstration. She was absolutely delightful–funny, serious, and an AMAZING chef! She first made a White Gazpacho with tarragon and grapes in the blender. It was SUPERB! Then, she made Israeli Couscous and served a Half Roasted Chicken over it with Zahtar Crust, olives and preserved lemon. And for dessert? An UNTRADITIONAL Key Lime Pie, with a dark chocolate crust. YUMMO!! And Michelle also gave each of us an autographed copy of her cookbook, Cuisine a Latina. **Side Note: Michelle Bernstein will appear as a judge on the Food Network’s Iron Chef America tomorrow night–be sure to check her out!**
Disclosure: Nissan provided meals for me during this event. I was also gifted a cookbook. The opinions are my own!
