A few weeks ago, I got a random email from a stranger, Linda Scott. A mutual friend had just told her that she should meet me and pointed her to my blog. So she emailed me on the spot, introducing herself as founder of 1426 Fashion Week. They feature both Plus sized and standard models. Once I got her email, I immediately called her and we made plans to have an early lunch the following day.
As soon as I met Linda, I knew that she was Bestie material. She is one STYLISH chick! Loved her. She explained her vision–
“to evoke positive images, enhance self-esteem, produce successful lifestyles and promote beauty within.”
In addition to 1426 Fashion Week, she trains women (especially those who wear sizes 14-26) in modeling, beauty and life skills. I ended up spending the entire day with Linda.
1426 Fashion Week begins next Friday, November 11, at the Sheraton Airport Hotel in Dania Beach. It’s a 3 day celebration that culminates in a one of kind super finale fashion show on Sunday night. In between, Linda has planned a welcome reception, model workshop, designer networking event, and a series of fashion shows.
Wait, did i mention that it’s for charity? This year’s beneficiaries are The Poverello Center and The Continuous Love Project. The Poverello Center is a volunteer organization dedicated to serving the nutritional needs of people living with HIV/AIDS. They maintain a food bank and thrift shop. The Continuous Love provides “care packages” to college bound students.
I’ll DEF be in attendance at 1426 Fashion Week. For ticket information, email admin@LS1426inc.com.
