My morning at Sweeter Days Bake Shop

Yesterday was a special treat.  I got to spend the morning with the great folks over at Sweeter Days Bake Shop.  This is ONE FAB SPOT!  As soon as you walk in, you know that you’ve hit something fantastic.  As soon as I entered, I just stopped and inhaled.  Then I looked over at the cupcake case where dozens of cupcakes in flavors like Orange Cremesicle, Caramel Apple, Lemon Dream and Key Lime Coconut are displayed.

As if that were not enough, the place is owned by two great guys–Steve Crombe and Will Rubino.  These guys opened Sweeter Days in January after spending nearly 30 years in the fashion industry (One as a VP at Liz Claiborne, the other as a VP at Spiegel).  This explains their mastery at the “visually pleasing.”  Everything in the place–from the cupcakes, to the tshirts with the “tongue in cheek sayings,” to the cake pans and accessories is artfully displayed and beckons your palate, as well as your wallet.  There are even greeting cards–making it a true one-stop shop!

Oh wait.  I didn’t mention the best part–the kitchen is open and in full view.  Anyone walking in could see Angel, the executive pastry chef, mixing and decorating.  As soon as I saw it, I had the great idea it would be the perfect place to have a baking or decorating class.  Too bad, the guys had already thought of that.  There are decorating classes on Tues and Sundays.  They cost $25 and you get to take your creations home.  I’m seriously considering having a girls night out over there and inviting my favorite chicas.  Let me know if you’re interested.

This place is amazing!  And though cupcakes are their specialty, along with packaging, they also do cookies, cakes, brownies, and cheesecakes.  Their clients have used them for weddings, birthdays, showers and more.  For such events, Sweeter Days leaves no details to chance, including finding the exact PMS colors for icings and decorations.

What a class act!  And another thing–they are one of the few small businesses in South Florida that totally “get” the whole Social Media thing.  They tweet, they have a Facebook fan page, and they even do foursquare specials.  Get there and tell them Jewel sent ya!  If you can’t get to the main location in Fort Lauderdale, there’s also a satellite office in the Galleria Mall.

Hi Jewel! I, too, just recently had my first Sweeter Days experience. I picked up a dozen for a birthday get together with my family. We truly enjoyed the cupcakes, they were delicious. I am currently looking for another excuse to go there and buy some!
    BTW, your pictures are great!
