I had a couple invitations to try the new El Agave Azul restaurant in Davie. And each time, something would come up. Finally, a couple weeks ago, I did indeed get there. And, I loved it! First of all, the location is so convenient–it’s right off of University Drive, near I-595. Secondly, it’s about as authentic of Mexican fare as you can get ’round these parts. Third, THE PRICES are FANTASTIC!
Yes folks, this is NOT what the supermarket offers as Mexican food. And the story of how the restaurant started is nothing short of amazing. Ivan Alarcon loved to cook for his friends and invite them over. Soon after, said friends started asking him to cook for their own get togethers. Then THEIR friends began contacting Ivan. Soon, a business was born! El Agave Azul‘s original location (off of 595) started as just a window, where they would sell tacos. Folks soon bought they own tables and chairs to sit outside and enjoy. Ivan expanded the space and the menu–offering dine-in meals.
Now, they have this super cool location that I visited. And, lets get back to the pricing–the top photo is the burrito. Depending on the filling–chicken, beef, pork, seafood, etc., the pricing ranges from $6.89 to 7.69. The middle photo is 5 small corn tacos. They come together as an order. And they cost $6.99. The sopes pictured above range, again depending on the filling, from $2.39 to $2.89. Is this not amazing??? Most of the menu items cost less than $8!
And, the food is AMAZING! My favorite thing? The chocoflan-half chocolate cake, half flan! You had me at HELLO!
I am DYING to host something here. If I did, would you come?
