Nivea Million Moments of Touch Campaign

I often say that I have the best circle of friends in the world.  I can count on them for love, support, encouragement and even a swift kick in the fanny (when I need I one).  But they can also count on me for the same.  That’s what friends are for, right?  Well, last week, I had a PROUD FRIEND moment.  One of my besties, Rosa Cordero of AccidentalSexiness.com, was named Brand Ambassador for Nivea’s Million Moments of Touch campaign, a year-long program that aims to get couples kissing, hugging and touching once again.

She joined a few other heavyweights in this campaign, as other Brand Ambassadors are celebrity couple Jerry O’Connell and Rebecca Romijn, and Lifechangers expert Dr. DrewNivea threw her a FAB party last week at the W South Beach, complete with blue Nivea-colored mojitos and a kissing photo booth.

I was beaming with pride as Nivea introduced her and Rosa took to the podium to give findings on Nivea’s commissioned study on touching.  Here’s some of what I found out:

  • We touch our cell phones more often than we touch each other. 57.2% of Americans say they touch their cell phones “always or quite a bit,” whereas 28.6% say they touch a family member and 16.7% say they touch their closest friend always or quite a bit.
  • Nearly half of American adults (48.8%) say they want more affectionate touch than they already receive.
  • Nearly equal percentages of women (74.5%) and men (74.4%) agree that Americans are in a state of “skin hunger,” a desire for more touch and human connection than they receive.
  • Men were more likely than women to name dry skin as a reason not to touch someone. Men were also more likely to name dry or cracked lips as a reason not to kiss someone. There were no sex differences in the other behaviors.

Interesting stuff, huh?

Well, Nivea is doing its part to make the world a more affectionate place by initiating the Million Moments of Touch Movement where they are asking folks to pledge to touch and be more affectionate.  I”ve joined the Movement and you can too, but going to Nivea’s Facebook page and clicking on the MMOTM tab.
