To be honest, the Vogue Lounge event for Art Basel was one that I initially wasn’t going to attend. I had heard about it and it just didn’t move me. But then, some besties (the Social Esquires) told me that they were going. That was enough to make me look at it again and realize that it was at the Raleigh Hotel and only a couple blocks from the Masters’ Mystery Art event that I was going to.
So, I skipped down Collins to the Raleigh. Oh yeah, on the way I saw a guy walking down the street in a powder blue tutu–but that’s another story altogether (#OnlyinMiami). Anywho, I arrived at the Raleigh long before the crowd and really got a chance to check out all of the offerings. FAB! The Vogue Lounge actually showcased some very cool products, including those from Sam Edelman, Trina Turk, bebe, Curve Soleil, and more. There was even a bar with jars of candy and cute little cellophane bags to pack it to go. And YES, I DID partake of that!
One of the best things about the event was that I met a VERY FAB chick, Lisa. Lisa is the sister of Tracy Mourning and was there manning the area where Tracy’s line of bodycare products were displayed. Lisa is my new BESTIE! She works with Tracy on the line, called Honey Child. She asked if I had ever used Honey Child products before and when I admitted that I hadn’t, she went to work! She not only explained everything, but she wanted me to EXPERIENCE it–so before long, she was massaging my hands and arms with oils and lotions. The fragrances are out of this world! I was hardpressed to pick a favorite. And the products are amazing–so hydrating and so light! Honey Child just might be my newest obsession!
Then Tracy arrived and was her usual, gracious self. I swear I love this chick! She is so giving of herself, her time, and her resources. And she is so REAL. And I’m not just saying that–how many Black chicks that are living can say that they have a school named after them. YES–a school–not an auditorium or a wing or a garden in your honor, but a public high school! How FAB is that???
This event was jam packed, but I did manage to catch up with celeb stylist Leon Frager, PR maven Tara Solomon, and fellow bloggers from Soul of Miami, Miami Beats and Sazon, and RiaMichelle. Fun times…
