Two Hotels and Six Wind Turbines

aqua nice

Recently, I went to a FAB event that celebrated the new wind turbines at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale.  The 374-suite resort has been committed to saving energy since it opened seven years go.  It was the first hotel in the area to be awarded a State of Florida green lodging designation.  Continuing the commitment of going above and beyond environmental regulations and voluntarily implementing hotel conservation programs, the hotel has not only installed the six wind turbines but has also installed a food disposal system that is  capable of composting  900 lbs of food waste daily. The turbines are 52 feet tall and are on the roof of the 25 story hotel.  They are intended to help power the hotel.  How cool is that? And, they’ve started the planning of a a roof top lounge, as well as the installation of a Tesla charging station.  All these programs will help reduce energy consumption that will eventually provide a cost savings.

It was a FAB event–with remarks from both Jack Seiler (Mayor of Fort Lauderdale) and my bestie, Barbara Sharief (mayor of Broward County).  One of the coolest things about the event is that it was held at the VERY nice and new, Conrad Fort Lauderdale.  Wait, what?  What Conrad in Fort Lauderdale?  Well, I’m here to tell you that the luxury brand is bringing its resort lifestyle to Fort Lauderdale by opening the very luxurious Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Residences.  I was able to peek at some of the amenities, including the pool deck where we celebrated the Hilton’s wind turbines.  Each unit is fully furnished.  Um, can you say Sub Zero fridges and marble bathrooms?  They are quite GRAND!  The other cool things were the light show, the fireworks, and the lavish food stations.  Did I mention an orchestra playing as entertainment?  Um, Yeah.  That.

Disclosure:  I was an invited media guest for this event.  All opinions are my own.  You can click here for more information about the Hilton Fort Lauderdale and here for information about the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Residences.
